Discussion

As of 1253 PM Wednesday...

KEY MESSAGE 1... Dry weather, with near or slightly below normal temperatures through the middle of next week.

A sprawling area of high pressure remains in place across the Great Lakes, Mid Atlantic, and Southeast US. Between the surface ridge to our north and the offshore surface low to the east of NJ, winds remain out of the northeast this afternoon with occasional gustiness.

The upper level ridge that is currently over the central CONUS will gradually shift east this weekend into early next week, yet the greatest height rises and thickness increases associated with this eastward shift will remain west of the mountains. The will allow for a continued period of dry weather with sunny/mostly clear skies and near or slightly below normal temperatures, lasting through at least the middle of next week. The upper ridge will gradually start breaking down toward the middle/latter part of next week, potentially opening the door to some weak moisture advection and increased temperatures but until then we can expect much of the same weather. Daily highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s, with lows in the upper 30s to upper 40s.

Aviation

As of 1253 PM Wednesday...

VFR conditions expected at all sites through the forecast period. Afternoon gustiness, where it develops, will weaken by 22Z with light/calm winds overnight.

Outlook: Continued VFR into early next week.
