Forecasters' discussion
From the National Weather Service office in ILN, issued 6 hrs ago
What Has Changed
Frost advisory has been issued for portions of central Ohio. Fog has been added to the forecast for tonight. Afternoon dewpoints have been decreased through Friday.
Key Messages
1) Fog and frost potential tonight.
2) Dry conditions are expected through at least early next week.
Discussion
Key Message 1)
Temperatures are expected to drop down into the 30s and 40s tonight. The greatest likelihood for temperatures in the middle 30s will be in central Ohio in the cool spots east of Columbus. Went with a frost advisory for Licking, Fairfield, and Hocking counties for tonight.
There will also be the potential for some stratus and fog to work into northern portions of the region again tonight with flow off of the lake. Have adjusted cloud cover for tonight across these locations and also have fog in the forecast as well. Have fog mention in the HWO as well.
Key Message 2)
A continued dry weather pattern is expected. High temperatures over the next week are expected to be in the 60s and 70s and lows will be in the 30s and 40s.
Aviation
Limited terminal forecasts to 1 line where possible, though some overnight fog required a longer forecast given the crossing of thresholds. In the 1 liners at CVG/CMH, I did not lengthen the forecast to indicate a drop of 3-4kt tonight, and then add that same 3-4kt tomorrow morning with a 20 degree change in direction overnight.
Outside of any fog formation, skc will be the continued rule for the next 24-30 hours.
OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
