Today through Friday Night...
Fairly similar conditions to previous days are present across the area this morning, with temperatures ranging from around 40 degrees in the coldest valleys to the mid-to-upper 50s in urban areas and higher elevations as of 06Z. Satellite imagery shows a relative minimum in high cirrus clouds over the area this morning; however, these should increase again through the day, bringing filtered sunshine later today. From now through mid-morning, the main impact will again be the development of fog in river valleys and other sheltered areas. While some of this could be locally dense, coverage should remain confined enough to keep impacts to a minimum.
As previous discussions have noted, steady/persistent conditions are expected through Friday. The synoptic pattern will feature mean troughing across the western CONUS with ridging across the southeast US. A few shortwave disturbances ejecting across the Plains and into the Great Lakes region will bring extra mid- and high clouds and slightly stronger SW winds through the mid-week period; however, dry air below 20k ft AGL will preclude precipitation chances. High temperatures each afternoon will be in the mid-to-upper 70s for most, and a few locations may approach 80 Thursday and Friday. Large diurnal ranges will allow temperatures to fall into the 40s and low 50s each night until Friday night, when increasing moisture should hold temperatures in the 50s.
The main weather impact through Friday will be increasing precipitation deficits and worsening drought conditions across the area, as has been well covered in previous discussions. Recent collaboration with area fire weather partners revealed that small fuels humidity values aren't too concerning thanks to good nighttime recovery of atmospheric RH. Additionally, the combination of light winds and intermittent high clouds limiting afternoon mixing should keep fire weather conditions fairly tame over the next several days.

The main forecast concern over the next 6-8 hours will be the development of patchy fog, particularly at BWG and HNB. BWG and HNB are already within a few degrees of crossover values, so expect fog to be a bit more prevalent than past nights. Otherwise, VFR conditions and light E/SE winds are expected during the current forecast period. Scattered high clouds will continue to stream from west to east, increasing in coverage this afternoon into tonight.
