Key Messages

1) Dry weather through the week.

Discussion

KEY MESSAGE 1: Dry weather through the week.

Persistent upper ridging will allow for dry conditions across the area through this week. Strong radiational cooling tonight under mostly clear skies and calm winds should again result in some abnormally low temps along with some locations getting patchy frost. Upper flow is progged to get to be more zonal by midweek with continued sfc ridging so morning lows will be higher with generally 40s in the mountains and mid 40s to low 50s in the piedmont. The next chance for precipitation should come by next Sunday with a possible upper shortwave and increased moisture field. For now most locations should be dry for Halloween festivities on Saturday/Saturday night with pleasant temperatures in the 60s near sunset.

Aviation

VFR conditions through the period aside from typical morning fog potential for KLWB. Mostly clear skies with light NE to SE winds today, becoming calm overnight, and then shifting to light NW later on Monday.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK...

VFR conditions will likely continue into next week as higher pressure dominates the region. The next best chance of any precipitation may not be until the start of November. Early morning river fog may still be possible with impacts mainly to KLWB for a few hours each morning.
