Discussion

KEY MESSAGE 1...

Surface high pressure continues to bring dry conditions across eastern New York and western New England through next Monday. Breezy conditions in the Mid-Hudson Valley to the Greater Capital District continue through this afternoon with winds gusting between 15 and 25 mph, then decrease near and after sunset tonight. A Nor'easter out in the Atlantic Ocean will continue to slowly head north and east out to sea with no impacts to eastern New York or western New England through Thursday. Seasonable temperatures continue through this weekend, with next Monday into the end of October leaning above normal for high temperatures.

Aviation

Through 00z Thursday...VFR conditions persist this evening with northerly to northeasterly winds beginning to wane courtesy of the loss of daytime mixing. Overnight, skies will remain clear with any mist/fog mitigated by a light northeasterly breeze and dry soil conditions. Sustained wind speeds overnight will range from about 5-6 kt before picking up a bit tomorrow afternoon. Sustained speeds tomorrow, with sufficient mixing, will reach about 8-10 kt with potential for POU to see some occasional gusts up to about 16 kt. Skies, still, will remain clear.
