Discussion
Issued at 1203 PM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026
Warm and mostly dry conditions are expected across region this week. A nearby shortwave and increased Gulf moisture will allow for daily low to medium (10-50%) chances of diurnally drives showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday, primarily along and east of I-69C. Thursday, rain chances remain in the forecast, but best chances will be along and west of I-69E due to excess moisture moving into northeastern Mexico and Texas from the remnants of Tropical Storm Vance, currently located off the Mexican Pacific coast. Rain chances taper off late week.
Temperatures will remain slightly above normal and slowly climb into the low to mid 90s by this weekend. Overnight lows will be in the mid 60s to low 70s for much of the week, with lows in the 70s by late week into the weekend.
Easterly flow across the Gulf increases the threat of rip currents this week. Additionally, astronomical tides will narrow beaches during high tide cycles each afternoon and evening. A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect today from 3 PM until midnight and additional Coastal Flood Statements may be needed over the next day or two.
Aviation
(18Z TAFS) Issued at 1203 PM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026
VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period. Easterly winds will remain light and become more southeasterly on Tuesday.
Marine
Issued at 1203 PM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026
Slightly adverse marine conditions are expected today, mainly on the offshore Gulf waters, due to slighlty elevated seas. Otherwise, favorable conditions will prevail with light winds, seas of 4 to 5 ft, and 7 to 8 second periods. Isolated showers and thunderstorms this week could lead to localized areas of increased winds and seas.
