What Has Changed

Key Messages remain unchanged as quiet weather persists through the seven day forecast period. Aviation discussion updated for 18z TAFs.

Key Messages

- 1. Dry weather continues this week with gradually warming temperatures.

Discussion

Key Message 1: Dry weather continues this week with gradually warming temperatures.

The extended dry period continues today, and likely persists through the end of October. Mostly sunny skies continue into this evening with breezy northeasterly winds which have started gusting into the 20 to 25 mph range. Upper ridge will slowly translate east through the week and flatten out by Thursday while surface high pressure remains anchored over the northeast and ridges south across the eastern seaboard. This will result in slightly warmer temperatures each day with fairly high confidence given very small NBM IQRs. Values may reach slightly above normal values by Friday and Saturday. Expect some cooler overnight temperatures, though values look to moderate into the low/mid 50s by Thursday and Friday. The pattern starts to show some signs of breaking down by late week, but rather quietly as opposed to a strong frontal passage.

Aviation

VFR conditions expected through the next 24 hours.

Little change in the overall pattern as high pressure continues with breezy winds this afternoon. Northeast winds at 10-12 knots with gusts occasionally up to 20 knots will continue before diminishing shortly after sunset. Atlantic moisture onshore is starting to push FEW-SCT VFR clouds along the Coastal Plain, though most should remain clear into the night. No fog is expected as winds should remain light overnight under a dry air mass. For Monday, clear and dry conditions remain as winds pick back up to 7-10 knots by midday.

EXTENDED AVIATION OUTLOOK...Breezy northeast winds expected to persist into next week; although gusts may subside a bit in the 10 to 15 knots range.
