Aviation
23/00Z TAFs...Showers east of the Cascades this evening will gradually shift eastward. Areas of MVFR and mountain obscuration will accompany the showers. Elsewhere, VFR ceilings will persist with isolated mountain obscuration and also gusty north winds near the coast.
Overnight, after 07Z, conditions should gradually improve with prevailing VFR by morning. But, with residual low level moisture and a stabilizing air mass, the period near sunrise into mid-morning around 13-17Z) will create areas of low visibility and ceilings along the coast and in valleys. VFR is expected across the area from Friday afternoon into Friday night.
Marine
Updated 830 PM PDT Thursday, October 22, 2026...A thermal trough will strengthen along the coast through Friday morning. This will maintain gusty north winds and steep to very steep seas, with high seas beyond 5 nm from shore. Conditions improve north of Cape Blanco later Friday as north winds ease, but hazardous conditions will persist in the south. Improvement in all areas is expected over the weekend, though with steep seas likely to linger in the southern waters Saturday through Saturday evening.
