Key Messages

Updated at 1055 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026

- Above average high temperatures and predominantly dry weather will continue through early week.

- A slight chance of showers arrives Tuesday with higher rain chances next weekend.

Short Term

(Through Monday) Issued at 1055 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026

Upper level ridging remains in place over much of the southeast CONUS while a slow moving trough becomes centered over the central Rockies through the period. This will lead to near persistent conditions through Monday with temperatures continuing to run above average for late October under a steady stream of high clouds. The ridging will keep any precipitation associated with pieces of shortwave energy west and north of the local region again on Monday

Long Term

(Monday Night through Sunday) Issued at 1055 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026

The ridge begins to flatten somewhat heading into the middle part of the week as the aforementioned trough lifts northeastward into the Great Lakes Region on Tuesday. This could allow a few showers to edge into eastern Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon and evening. Overall rain amounts will be light as dry low level air remains in place over much of the region through this time.

A more unsettled pattern looks to evolve through the latter part of the work week into the weekend as a general breakdown of the mid level ridge still looks evident in most long range guidance. More southwesterly flow aloft along with an influx in surface moisture will allow for increasing rain chances, particularly by the weekend, though details will continue to be ironed out with time. There does not look to be much in the way of a significant frontal passage on the horizon however, meaning temperatures will continue to hold above average through the period. A slight cooldown will be possible with the more showery weather by the weekend.
