Key Messages

Issued at 1106 AM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026

- Moderate to strong northeast winds will create hazardous conditions for small craft over the open Gulf waters until early afternoon and potentially into the evening hours well offshore.

- Moderate to strong northeasterly winds may create hazardous conditions for small craft mainly well offshore from Wednesday through Saturday.

- A High Risk of rip currents is expected for beach areas today, and again Thursday and Friday.

Discussion

Issued at 1106 AM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026

An upper ridge over much of the eastern states weakens somewhat and becomes oriented near/along the East Coast through Wednesday. An essentially zonal flow develops over the area on Thursday, then a series of shortwaves move across the region Friday with the potential for an upper trof to move across the area late Saturday night into Sunday. A strong surface ridge over the eastern states becomes oriented over the southeastern states by Thursday, then a surface low or inverted surface trof looks to approach (or move into) the forecast area late this weekend. Dry conditions continue over the area through Friday, then slight chance to chance pops follow for Saturday and Sunday. There could be the potential for some strong storms this weekend depending on how the pattern plays out which will be monitored. Highs on Tuesday will be mostly in the upper 70s to lower 80s then slowly trend to mostly in the lower to mid 80s by Sunday. Lows tonight through Wednesday night range from the mid/upper 40s well inland to the mid/upper 50s at the coast then trend by Friday night to around 60 well inland to the mid 60s near the coast, with similar values continuing into this weekend. A High Risk of rip currents today will be followed by a moderate risk for tonight through Wednesday night, then a High Risk returns for Thursday and Friday. /29

Aviation

(18Z TAFS) Issued at 1106 AM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026

VFR conditions continue through Tuesday morning. Northeasterly winds 5-10 knots become light and variable this evening, then return to a northeasterly flow at 5-10 knots Tuesday morning. /29

Marine

Issued at 1106 AM CDT Mon Oct 26 2026

Moderate to strong northeasterly winds diminish this afternoon, increase somewhat this evening, then gradually subside overnight into Tuesday. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the open Gulf waters until 1 pm this afternoon. Small craft should exercise caution this evening well offshore. The offshore flow begins to strengthen again late Tuesday night, with a moderate to occasionally strong northeasterly flow for Wednesday and eventually becoming easterly by Saturday. A Small Craft Advisory may become necessary mainly for the well offshore waters from Wednesday through Saturday. /29
