* Until 430 PM MST.

* At 340 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Deer Valley Airport, or 8 miles north of Phoenix, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Phoenix, Scottsdale, New River, Cave Creek, Carefree, Desert Mountain, Camp Creek, Desert Ridge Marketplace, Deer Valley Airport and Seven Springs.

What to do

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing dangerous hail and damaging winds.

What: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

Where: A portion of south central Arizona, including the following areas, Aguila Valley, Tonopah Desert, northern Pinal County, and the entire Phoenix metropolitan area.

When: Through Thursday afternoon.

Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Additional details: - A strong weather disturbance will support widespread thunderstorms through Thursday evening. Heavy rainfall with localized rainfall rates upwards of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
