Key Messages

- Breezy conditions are expected through the weekend.

- Rain-free conditions and near-seasonal temperatures will remain for the next 7 days, with a slight warm up by the end of the week.

Short Term

(This afternoon through Sunday) Issued at 213 PM EDT Sat Oct 24 2026

Current satellite loop shows mostly clear conditions across the area with some Mid level clouds streaming across NE GA caught in the dry cold air advection coming in from the Carolinas. Models continue to show a fairly strong wedge building down the eastern seaboard with the ridge centered over the Mid-Atlantic/New England states. This ridge/wedge is keeping things dry but with the overall easterly flow we are seeing a little bit of moisture return from the Atlantic. This moisture return is keeping RH values above critical fire danger thresholds and we will see some increase cloud cover as we go into next week. With the wedge building into the are and a low pressure system rotation off the GA/FL coast, the pressure gradient is tightening across the area creating gusty NE winds. Seeing E to NE winds speeds in the 10-15kt range with gust 25-30kt this afternoon. These winds speeds are expected to diminish over night but hey will pick back up again Sun.

Long Term

(Monday morning through next Friday) Issued at 213 PM EDT Sat Oct 24 2026

A mid level ridge centered over central CONUS will slowly shift eastward over the next few days. With our area along its eastern periphery, northerly flow will persist across the region heading into the start of the week. Combined with a weak low pressure feature off the Carolina Coast, this will support a continuation of the high pressure wedge pattern seen over the last several days, along with a relatively dry northeast wind component. With this in mind, expect mostly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures to continue through the week. Overnight lows will range from the 40s to low 50s, with afternoon highs in the 70s and no chance of rain to round out October.

As we move into the latter half of next week, the upper level pattern begins to shift. A developing trough across the Plains and its associated surface low could eventually increase our local rain chances as the system propagates eastward, though the outcome remains uncertain as we head into early November.

Aviation

(18Z TAFS) Issued at 103 PM EDT Sat Oct 24 2026

Mostly clear skies with no precipitation or restrictions to VSBYs expected through this TAF period. Winds out of the E to NE in the 10-15kt range gusting to 25kt across the area. Will see wind speeds diminish to 10kt or less over night with speeds picking back up Sun afternoon similar to Today.

//ATL Confidence...18Z Update... Confidence high on all elements.
